About BoringTools
Last updated 12 August 2026
BoringTools is an Australian website of simple calculators for everyday questions — work and pay, money, home and energy, cars, dates, and daily life. If you’ve ever thought “I wonder how much / how long / how many / what date”, that’s the kind of question we’re trying to answer.
What we’re trying to do
Give you an answer quickly, explain how it was worked out, and show the assumptions behind it — no account, no signup, and nothing you enter ever needs to leave your browser.
Where the numbers come from
Calculators that touch Australian rules and entitlements — annual leave, redundancy, notice periods, long service leave and public holidays — are based on publicly available information from sources such as the Fair Work Ombudsman, the ATO, and relevant state and territory government agencies. Other calculators — cooking, party planning, running costs and the rest — use documented, general-purpose formulas rather than official figures. Every calculator links its assumptions on the page itself.
Who’s behind it
BoringTools is built and maintained independently — a small, transparent project rather than a large organisation. We’d rather have a smaller number of calculators done properly than hundreds of thin, near-identical ones.
